Peter Cleaveland

Peter began working in the construction industry over his Summers while attending High School in Algiers, Louisiana.

He quickly learned he had an eye for detail and a skill and a passion for finish carpentry. His experience working for high-volume home builders and contractors helped him to develop and fine tune his skill set to be able to offer the best local contracting at an affordable price.

Based straight out of Belle Chasse, Louisiana, with over 20 years of experience, Southern Hammer and Nail Builders serves the Greater New Orleans area and beyond. Peter decided to make his passion his life’s work and opened Southern Hammer & Nails Builders in 2018.

Peter ventured out on his own to work directly with home owners to utilize his talent and craftsmanship to create long lasting relationship with customers by exceeding their expectations. Previously working for larger construction companies, Peter wanted to go back to his roots of working directly with the home owner to achieve their visions.

He also works alongside clients with investment properties, home flips, and AirBNB’s to obtain their project goals. Southern was established to simplify the process and de-stress clients.

When Peter is not working, he enjoys spending time with his two sons, fishing, and enjoying the great outdoors. Peter works along side his fiance Shelly. They share an affinity for architecture, historic buildings and antique design. They find joy in these older works of architecture for the history and unique stories they tell.
